Our History
1970
Theofilos Papamichail, known as “paliatzis”, a copper and iron merchant, retired and passed on the ground floor of a two-story building behind the town hall to his youngest son.
1971
Pantelis Papamichail started at six years old as a street vendor. He opened a small store selling men’s clothing and footwear.
1982
With the support of his wife Kalliopi Zachariou, the store expanded to include a women’s collection and added another floor dedicated to shoes.
Their passion for the business, attention to quality, and fair prices made the store a leading name not only in Kalymnos but throughout the Dodecanese islands.
1993
After acquiring the neighboring building, BENTETA was renovated for the third time by pioneering architect Ioannis Gerakios, creating a classic and luxurious space crafted from wood and stone.
1994
With a blend of internationally recognized brands and the best Greek labels, BENTETA became a landmark destination for the entire family and every visitor to the island.
2020
Benteta stands for absolute respect and dedication to quality and fashion trends. Our philosophy is mutual appreciation and long-lasting relationships with our customers who honor us with their preference and trust.
